New Spec 2000 Chairman

Washington, September 28, 2003 - The Air Transport Association e-Business Department is pleased to announce that Aaron Armstrong of UPS Airlines has agreed to serve as the new chairperson of the Spec 2000 Coordinating Group. Armstrong worked for Orion Air for three years and has worked at UPS since 1988. He brings valuable experience from his work with Maintenance Control, Line Operations and Component Repairs. He has also served on Internal & Facilities Audit Teams (Financial & Regulatory), and currently, he works for UPS Procurement Services as Manager, Purchasing and Strategic Supply Management, with additional responsibilities in the areas of Vendor Performance and e-sourcing. This experience will greatly benefit the Coordinating Group, and the Spec 2000 community looks forward to working with Armstrong over the next two years.

The e-Business Department also wishes to acknowledge Joyce Polkinghorne of American Airlines for her excellent leadership as chairperson. Her two years were difficult ones for the industry, but Polkinghorne led the Coordinating Group with vision, resulting in savings for the airlines and the industry.

The Air Transport Association of America, Inc. is the trade association for the leading U.S. airlines. ATA members transport over 95 percent of all the passenger and cargo traffic in the United States.
